I made this because STHS needs more LGBT awareness! Uncensoring gay from the website is only the first step in what I hope will be a good future for Gay/Bi/Tran guys at Tech. Sign for great justice =]
If you are a Techie, and you go to the school forums then you'll notice that if you try to post something with the word "gay" in it, it will come up with (censored) instead. When I asked for this to be removed because of discrimination and homophobia, a moderator replied that it was being used as an insult so gay would remain blocked. Epic facepalm! So rather than persecute the idiots who post the word gay pejoratively, this moderator would rather just ban mentioning the victims of the bullying.
If I am able to do this one tiny thing in favour of LGBT rights, then maybe I'll be able to do a whole lot more. Things like providing help for guys at STHS who are having trouble coming to terms with their sexuality. But I need your support first - whether you're heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, transexual or even asexual.
Please sign this petition, it's a just cause!
The feedback from fellow students regarding this censorship policy has been revealing. It remains clear that blocking a word does nothing to address the underlying prejudice that staff claims to be fighting. I am currently preparing a formal proposal for the administration that outlines a more constructive approach to this issue.

Seeing this conversation grow beyond my initial expectations reminds me that many people believe our school language should reflect respect rather than avoidance. This momentum suggests that our community is ready to move past outdated policies toward a more inclusive environment.

This is honestly so ridiculous. censoring the word just makes it look like the word itself is something bad. let kids talk how they want.
