As a former Army CPT with three combat deployments I strongly endorse his acceptance into the JROTC program. Anyone demonstrating this sort of drive and into atone is the exact sort of person our nation needs in its ranks.

If he is not able to transfer, may I recommend the board start a JROTC for all school for equal opportunity. That way everyone has a chance instead of just a few who live in that school district.

As president of the NJROTC Booster Club for the last 3 years, and a mom who has two students that had to transfer to attend Cary HS I can't emphasize enough the importance and impact this will have on any young person seeking this program. My oldest found purpose, support and a commitment to excellence in this program. He is currently in the Army National Guard, attending Appalachian State this fall with ROTC in his future there. His participation in NJROTC helped prepare him for this future. My second son thought football would be his future and is in the program To help develop his leadership skills. After suffering a concussion he decided to take a step back and not play. The only anchor he had to help support him through this overwhelming change was the NJROTC program. His peers, teachers and alumni of the program helped him to stay motivated and focused. He is a large participant and successful student due to this. To deny transfers specifically for this program is potentially damaging to a child's future growth and academic success not to mention denying his peers to a great potential leader, mentor, friend and confidant. Kids like this are who cadets need to help guide and lead them in the program. This successful program is ranked highly in the NATION and it is negligent to deny access to further someone's learning and future. Please reconsider.

You're doing a wonderful thing for yourself and are a shining example to our youth & the rest of Cary, & Wake County (and the planet.) and are being held up for no good LOGICAL reason...

Going to Cary HS for Naval JROTC is a great choice. As a former WCPSS Central Office administrator and assessing many HS transfers, this 1 is a great reason to go to CHS. Let him go please!

Finally a high-school student with aspirations for an adult profession that is commendable. Perhaps you could bump a student that cannot drag themselves to class or stay awake to make room for a student with a dream?
