This petition is to show support for a Student-Run Darkroom at Rutgers University. The darkroom will be open to all current or recent Rutgers University students who pay a nominal fee (to be determined, but not exorbitant) and go through a training session with a student guide.
We hope to equip the darkroom with enlargers, film developing equipment, print supplies, and other such materials. Our goal is to allow students to develop 35mm or 120 film and produce their own prints to take home and display.
I have been in contact with several university departments to determine the viability of a permanent space for this project. Their initial feedback suggests that demonstrating a clear breadth of student interest is essential for our success. Please continue to discuss this effort with your peers so we can build the strongest possible case for the administration.
