Ruby Mountain re-zoning could allow for commercial development

Leave it alone!

This would greatly impact the ruby mountains and the wildlife it houses. This range is a destination for hunters and backcountry skiers and commercial development would harm these much lower impact uses.

There is already limited access into some canyons in the Rubies. Look at how difficult it is to get to Griswold Lake and Ruby Dome. That is not unique. I fear this will become another land access issue for the people.

This area does not have the infrastructure nor the population to support the kind of business proposed. Agriculture and mining are the backbone of this community. Businesses built solely on recreation, vie for the natural resources that our backbone industries need, without increasing revenue in a substantial way for the county residents. Please protect this land from indiscriminate, "anything goes", development.

I have hiked Ruby Ridge and part of the charm is the lack of development. Please don't ruin this natural wonder!

Keep the current zoning!

Why are people moving in and trying to destroy this area. Hell no!

My concerns are the impact on the water, traffic, and wildlife. Most people who live in Spring Creek chose the burden of driving the distance to go to work and home and to do shopping, because we chose to live in a rural area. Thus investing in our homes and environment. The proposed project is a threat to the peaceful way of life we chose and sacrificed for.

Fully opposed, this is not needed or wanted for locals.

I do not want to see our Ruby Mountains touched and manipulated for the profit of others.

The community is not structured for this. We already have traffic, accidents, and we certainly need to hang on to our water. I say NO

Please leave the Rubies be!

I encourage the county commissioner not to change the zoning. You can never go back from a change like this. Water, wildlife, and scenic natural beauty are of utmost concern

As an officer and board member of Elko Bighorns Unlimited, this rezoning of these areas is detrimental to all the effort we have put in the past 40 years. All of our proceeds raised as a nonprofit stay in Nevada to keep big game on the mountain. Allowing these precious resources for Nevada’s already struggling big game herds to be compromised cannot happen. We won’t have any habitat left if we allow a project like this to happen.

It is zoned Open Space so this does not happen and should remain.

Reasons against: water shortage; destruction of beautiful, ancient mountains; trade with government!! For: personal property rights. Looking for compromise.

This would make a huge scar on our beautiful mountains!

Too beautiful to disturb.

Please keep the Ruby mountains pristine. Mining has been enough damage to Elko County and what is left are some of the most beautiful mountains on Earth. I taught in that Community for years and love taking my students up into the canyon and hiking and other areas to teach them to respect nature and how to get away from the noise and pollution that humans cause. If you approve this you are showing zero respect for the homes and the ranchers that have been there for years and the wildlife that many families owe their meals to. I am adamantly against this and it saddens me that someone would even consider it just because they have some money. Can we please leave something pristine and natural and not clog up half of the Mountainside with a bunch of homes

Not good for Elko, as they are going to used roads already congested, and how are they are going to get water. also will get rid of wildlife.
