As the health care model is shaping it's way into the future, we need to be in the game. Telehealth is growing more mainstream every day, and it is not cost efficient to become licensed in every single state. Other healthcare professionals have already established some form of compact licensure including physicians, nursing, nurse practitioners, emergency management service providers, licensed practical counselors, physical therapists, and radiology technicians. It is time to make a push for multi-state Compact licensure for Respiratory Therapists. Please sign this petition to show your support and let our collective voice be heard!

Nurses already will have this in a few short months. We as RRT’s should also have this opportunity so we can help areas in need at a much faster pace.
I support this petition. Many RTs are saving lives wherever the COVID hotspots pop up. RTs cross state lines because there’s a workforce shortage in that particular state. It’s not getting any better and a respiratory therapy license compact would be good for healthcare.
It’s difficult for RTs to respond to crisis areas due to individual state license requirements. Some states take several weeks to issue a license.
It's unfair to make Respiratory Therapists pay for specific licenses in each State. It gets extremely expensive, and ends up depriving patients of optimum care due to shortages in available RT's. As a Registered Nurse, I have a Compact license, meaning I can automatically practice in several States, without having to apply and pay for licenses in each of those States. Please give RT's Compact licenses as well, for the good of everyone.
As a travel therapist, this is needed. It takes sometimes up to a year to get a state license. And each state asked for the same information. I’be never been arrested, but I’ve spend far too much time getting fingerprints at my local police station. So much , they know me by name and why I’m there.

20+ yrs we have been jumping hoops of the politics of a money driven licensure that doesn’t promote our profession to grow like others. If one can perform life saving skills in one state, why should they be held back from doing it 20 miles in the other direction. The “R” in RN, stands for the same in “RRT”.. cut the ties!
