Proposed Changes to Bolton High and the Alexandria School System From an email sent to the parents involved in Brame Middle School PTC: "The superintendent will likely propose the following changes to the school board at the upcoming retreat in February and the board would vote on it at the March, 2008 meeting: 1. All 6th graders will return to the elementary schools effective August, 2008. It was pointed out to the superintendent that Cherokee, Nachman and JI Barron do not have the facility to house these 6th graders whereas the middle schools currently do have room. More portables was the response. It was suggested to the superintendent that such a move of the 6th graders should not occur until at least additional schools, wings, or rezoning occurs that would alleviate some of the overcrowding currently at those elementary schools. Most disappointing was the news that there are no current definitive plans in place by the school board to reduce that overcrowding situation. The school board will be considering the City of Woodworth's offer to donate some land for a school (probably K through 8th grades) if the school board will pay the majority of the cost to build it. 2.
