We, the members of Ms. Testa's World Literature Honors class, do hereby make a formal petition and request a re-evaluation of the research paper deadline which (as it stands now) is to be completed and turned in on Monday, December 13th, 2010. Due to the recent turn of events resulting in Ms. Testa's untimely absence from the classroom, we request the Nazareth Academy English department to consider the inconvenience it causes not only for the students seeking aid this last week before the rough draft deadline (December 6th, 2010)- but also for the other unsuspecting teacher(s) who are being looked to for aid in Ms. Testa's leave. It is unreasonable for us to seek any sort of full-fleged input from these other teachers, as they have their own obligations to their own students' research paper drafts and revisions. We also ask the department to consider the implications this will cause for those students attending this upcoming December Kairos retreat. For these students, it will be nearly impossible to get any input from any teacher (save from this week), and due to Ms. Testa's absence, it will also be extremely difficult to get any such input from her before the ever-approaching final draft deadline the Monday after the Kairos retreat ends. More so than anyone, these students are (and will be) at a severe inconvenience and disadvantage because of the present deadline. Therefore, for these reasons, we respectfully petition the Nazareth Academy English Department to extend the deadline of our research paper to a more reasonable date. For both the sake of fairness and compensation for the encroachment of time we would otherwise have to potentially seek aid and revise our papers to our academic advantage, we hereby make this request.
