Eliminating the Fall Rush and essentially disbanning fraternities and sororities is not the answer. Social awareness, education, and partnering with the Greek Life organizations would be a far more effective method if the true purpose is to decrease drug and alcohol use and sexual assault.

Alpha Phi 2016
RPI is a much better place because of Greek life and the students that fill these organizations. My sorority is the main reason I stay connected as an alum, and it would be a shame to tear down that system.

As a formerly proud RPI alum, I no longer display my diploma nor will I donate to an institution who disregards the rights and wellbeing of the students. Greek Life was a large part of my college experience and contributed to what I considered to be a well-rounded and balanced education that prepared me for the challenges of the workforce.

Sig Ep, class of '87. RPI lifetime Patroon. I first heard of this a couple of days ago, and knew that no good could come of this. As I learn more, my suspicions are becoming reality. While I reluctantly have continued my Patroon level donations throughout the Union scandal, RPI must know that my donations will stop entirely if the fraternity/sorority system is compromised.

I am currently going into my fifth year at RPI and I am a proud alumna of Alpha Phi. The experiences, friendships, and support I’ve gained through my sorority have been the most important things RPI has given me. Not once in my four years involved in the Greek community was I ever pressured into any dangerous or stereotypical situations associated with Greek Life. If anything, Greek Life has made me a leader, involved on campus, and a part of something bigger than myself. Without Alpha Phi, I would not have been involved at all outside of the architecture program. Without Alpha Phi, I would not have stayed at RPI.

I agree. Phi Gamma Delta has reached out to our National, and our local undergrads and grads are gathering info "on the ground and working on a strategy". I encourage everyone here to reach out to all of his or her alum social networks/channels. I've posted to the "RPI Greek Life" Facebook page, but I don't know what influence Greek Life has anymore (in my 1980s days, there was a Dean for Greek Students, and the IFC and Student Union were well intact). I think we'd all appreciate hearing about what, if any, local roots effort takes form so we could get behind it.
