The same issue here as the Canada Games Pool replacement issue for our competitive swimmers. All our youth need encouragement, life skills and fitness regardless of their chosen sport. City council needs to get with the times. Support our athletes and we get health communities in return. Banded together as a sporting community would also be a huge economic benefit to the City of New Westminster. Build the arena, build a competitive swimming pool and support our youth.

Yes this is needed and has been for quite sometime. What you may not realize is that it's actually self-financing, pretty much the same way Moody Park arena was back in "74. The only real problem with your proposal is that you've got it in the wrong spot. I drew the plans for it back in '95 and sent a "reminder letter" to the City in '16. I can send you copies if you like. Just let me know.

More facilities gives families more options, more flexibility for game/practice times & the ability to host events. In the past 3 hockey seasons my son has lost practice time due to ringette tournaments. With better practice time, especially for the youngest players parents may be willing to enrol their children in hockey for example instead of being scared off by the early morning practice time.

As a member of the NWMLA I believe having a second arena in Queens park will provide the lacrosse community with a great opportunity to host more tournaments including provincial and national level tournaments.
