Benefit the club but also the kids who otherwise would be sat inside playing computer games

Harpenden is seriously short of good sports facilities. At a time when there are general concerns about lack of sport among young people and child obesity, as a society we need to ensure that our communities have proper facilities. This pitch would be one step towards doing that in Harpenden.

I'm 20 years old and am a former player now playing professionally at Oxford United. I loved my time at colts and I believe this needs to happen.

Our children should be able to enjoy a local facility to train and play football.

Lets get kids off of computers and outdoors doing activites. An all weather pitch would be a great addition to a vibrant sporting community

This is a much needed resource in the Harpenden area that will allow children to have much better access to proper training and increase their interest in the vital area of sport

A very much needed facility for both the school and the football club. I remember this was declined a few years ago because of NIMBYism from neighbours, heaven forbid that children exercising might reduce my house price! Typical Harpenden...

In a world where our children are becoming more and more sedentary, a playing surface which is usable at any time of year and in all weather will ensure that no sporting activities are cancelled due to pitch conditions. During this very wet spring, it has become very, very obvious that local pitches were not able to cope. An all weather pitch is definitely highly desirable for our local community and our children!

This will be a great enhancement to the school and also to providing a facility for Harpenden Colts and the community.

This will be a fantastic facility for the community and school. So often training or matches are cancelled as the pitch is unfit and will improve the facilities greatly . This will avoid travelling to Redbourn.

My three children are Colts players and we are looking forward to having a local full size All weather football pitch. During the winter months, games and training are either cancelled or I have to organise share lifts to distant places in order to get them to their training which is relocated out of Harpenden. Football is a big part of my children's life as well as that of hundreds of children from the local community. It provides them with a well balanced life. Sports does keep trouble away. For instance, my kids (as well as their teammates) do not attend parties on Friday and Saturday nights because of their football training and matches and whilst playing, they burn out their energy in a positive way. So providing the correct facilities to enable children to regularly participate in team sports is essential for the development of a happy community. Please approve this planning so that our local children can train all year around and grow into responsible adults. Thank you.

Harpenden should be proud of the Colts organization and I believe it is vital that the club is provided with basic facilities like an all-weather training facility that can be used by all of its teams throughout the year. All weather pitches is a key element of the FA's plans to improve the quality of football across the UK. It would benefit hundreds of kids in the area - encouraging them to play sport and develop friendships.
