The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is currently proposing a number of roundabouts be built throughout McHenry County. Two of these are proposed for Coral Township. One will be located on US Rte. 20 at Harmony Rd. and the other on US Rte. 20 at Marengo Rd/South Union Rd/Beck Rd. We the residents of McHenry County are asking that all planning regarding such roundabouts be stopped until public forums are held to address concerns and answer questions from the community. •Priority of emergency vehicles’ access. •Public education especially for older population of drivers, •Access by larger vehicles such as snowplows, semi-trucks and farm equipment, •Location of roundabouts at intersections where the current speed limit is between 45-55 mph on US 20. •Overall cost of the plan in comparison to more traditional traffic light/ turn lane options. These are just some of the areas that need to be addressed.

IDOT bureaucrats thought they could ram these pointless roundabouts through our community while we were looking the other way. This surge in support proves they cannot ignore us anymore and will be forced to look us in the eye during a public forum.

Roundabouts on 20 are a disaster waiting to happen. Farm equipment cant navigate those things. Leave the lights alone.
