Rosenkrantz Land Issue
The petition objects to the application for the recognition of the Lamola Chieftaincy at Rosenkranz Farm on the basis that the farm was purchased collectively by multiple families who currently hold equal shareholding and decision-making rights. The recognition of a chieftaincy would fundamentally alter this arrangement by placing authority in the hands of one lineage through birthright rather than through the democratic structures currently used by the community.
Petitioners believe this would undermine equal participation, create unequal power over the land, and potentially allow one family to exercise control over land use, leasing, or benefits derived from the farm.
They further argue that establishing a chieftaincy on a communally purchased farm would be unprecedented and could create a harmful precedent for other farms across the country. For these reasons, the undersigned residents and descendants of the original purchasers oppose the recognition of the Lamola Chieftaincy at Rosenkranz Farm.
