Growing up in the Detroit area there are many musical influences. Rock, Blues, R&B and of course Motown! Personally I have seen many of the great gutairst from so many different genres. Page, Blackmore, Alvin Lee, Tony Iommi, Eddie Van Halen, Ted Nugent, Joe Perry, Alex Lifeson, Santanna, and many others. When I heard Rory do "Bullfrog Blues" from the Live in Europe LP I was STUNNED! Who was this guy, where was he from and I had to hear more from this great guitarist. Saw Rory live once in a small Detroit venue back in the early 80's and was mesmerized. His stripped down, no flash way of attacking his music and working man attitude allowed him to have a connection with everyone. A true master of the guitar, never to be repeated.

Rory Gallagher needs to be in the Rock and Roll Half of Fame. His technical mastery of the guitar, and love iof performing put him in a class or.
his own. His body of work in electric & acoustic blues oriented rock music is vast ,and unrivalled.

One of the GREAT original guitar players who remained true to his core and did not sell out to commercial success. Brilliant!!!

I liked many guitarists until I listened to Rory Gallagher. He changed my perspective on music and trained my ears. I understood what are dynamics and how feelings can be expressed with intelligent mix of dynamics and melodies.
He is one of a kind and for me now it is Rory Gallagher and the rest.

One of the greatest guitar players, songwriters and performer and he just stayed a shy guy. You really don't know who enjoys the gig more the audience or the Rory. Lived for gigging.
