He deserves it more than any other musician I can think of right now. He was always true to himself, to his music and he was also a great influence for many recognised musicians. Not only he played the guitar like a master but also composed all his stuff, sang, played harmonica and even the sax. And he had that kind of magic that cannot be explained.

I challenge anyone to name me another musician who actually stopped a war on the night he was in town. He did this on several occasions in Belfast in the early 70s. Paramilitary groups on both sides of the political divide laid down their arms and ceased attacks when Rory was playing.

First saw Rory at Creams last concert Royal Albert Hall Nov.1968 and I was blown away..became major influence on me for many years. I Feel So Good at the IOW shows off the bands energy that I saw many times live. Truly one of the greats.To this day,not many people can generate the excitement with a three piece like Rory did. The McCracken,Wilson line up was the best.

This man was the embodiment of blues. I had the very good fortune of seeing Rory play in Montreal in the mid 70's and also saw him play at two other venues in the States. I'll never forget his joie de vivre " love of life" as he played. To this day I have his 1972 release of Tattoo in my collection. If anyone deserved to be in the hall of fame, it would be the man who along with others put the blues into the mainstream of our lives.

Rory was the most awesome guitar player and performer I've ever seen in my life. He was just incredible. I saw him the first time at the Star Club in Hamburg with Taste when I was just 16 years old and it really blew me off! I was lucky I could see him many more times in concert afterwards, altogether 25 times. From the moment Rory hit the stage until the last chord of the concert he always gave a 100%! He was such a fabulous musician, performer, and songwriter. I've seen Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, B.B. King, the Kinks, the Stones, Neil Young, Patti Smith, and most of the other great ones, but none of them could be compared to Rory. Sadly missed!

Rory Gallagher for some really inexplicable reason is often ignored and often left out of the loop. I have never understood this. The man was a one off. His interpretation of the Blues and its ofshoots was unique. He was different to the run of the mill guitarists such as Clapton. He was an honest musician and a better performer than possibly all his peers along with Hendrix, Townshend and PAge. Rory resolutely stuck to his style and never compromised is musical integrity in order to gain a wider acceptance. He would not blow his own trumpet like some as he was a humble character. These may well be the reasons he never quite fitted in. It's time to accept that Rory was an invaluable part of RocknRoll history even if his popularity wasn't that of a Clapton or Page.. But he was a true artist - warts n all. He continues to influence all who come accross him. You must give the Irishman his dues so that he may well be heard by a wider audience..

Introduced my adult Son to Rory and a friend at work and both were amazed that they had not heard of him before, he truly was unique and definitely up there with Hendrix, Page and even Lifeson. I suppose like RUSH the hall of fame just won't get it for a while yet.

I heard Rory first with this tremendous "What' going on", when i was 16. I followed his way over the years and saw his Rockpalast concerts in TV with a a lot of friends. I never ever saw somebody again, who could play the Blues like him.

If anything, Rory's work was a breath of honesty in a time when music was largely influenced by image and lesser things. While the RRHOF seems to favor the latter, there has been many instances where artistic integrity won out. Whether or not Rory gets the recognition he deserves from the RRHoF is immaterial to me; I found his music and I'll keep it with me for as long as I'm able.

Rory is one of the all-time greats. Certainly better than some of the so-called "musicians" who have already been inducted.

Rory Gallagher could very well have been the very first person inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and you wouldn't have had an argument from me. The fact that he isn't in the R&R HOF is a travesty. It bothers me that my friends dismiss Rory with an "he's okay" mentality but I counter back "he's better than Clapton!" and then we really get into heated discussions. The real difference is I point out to them a very important fact and that is they've never listened to Rory except when I force them to listen to a song or two. From where I sit having listened to all the greats from Hendrix to Clapton, from Stevie Ray to Santana for my money Rory Gallagher is the greatest! Just my honest opinion

I went over to Queens University, Belfast from my home city of Leicester to see Taste split up and was fortunate enough to meet Rory and his brother Donal. They invited me to have a drink with them and later Donal asked me if I wanted to help him set the kit up. Apart from the split, a day and night I shall never forget. God bless his soul.

My boyfriend reintroduced me to Rory Gallagher, I was a teenager when I seen him in concert as an opening act, didn't know who he was so we went to the concert late and only caught his last song and oncore. I was really bummed out I missed his part of the show. What I did see, had me mezmorized! My friends too. It was YEARS later I was reintroduced to him by my boyfriend, who is also a guitar player, I was ecstatic! I went for digging deep into ALL of his music and reading everything I could, not only about him, but into what alot of the other great guitar players and musicians had to say about him. Nothing but praises and the taking off of their hats to him. Also found out that he could have played for The Rolling Stones! Feeling very humbled, he felt he needed to graciously turn them down! WOW...thats incredible. Don't think there are to many artists out there that would do that and never look back! He is VERY MUCH over due this SUPER deserving induction. The Hall of Fame really needs to listen to our current of a following as it should be, because he passed away much before his time and before his moment of full recognition and

Please acknowledge Rory Gallagher's pure pursuit and mastery of the blues guitar. Truly he dedicated his life to music. When he performed, we were captivated by his joyous energy. He needed no elaborate staging or visuals -- he simply held the audience in the palm of his hand. I saw Rory Gallagher in Tucson in 1972.

It's past due! It's time for Rory Gallagher to get his rightful recognition.
