There are benefits to all students in having Room 2 at Del Mar, not just for the special education kids. Many Del Mar students enjoy peer counseling during their lunch time. Many students enjoy interacting with the special education kids and developing special bonds. Children also learn empathy, compassion and understanding of differences. The interaction between the students is very special and it would be sad to see this program terminated at Del Mar.

Room 2 has been an extraordinary daily opportunity for students to complement their academic experience at Del Mar and develop all qualities of the Vision of the Reed Union Graduate: Creative Problem Solvers, Effective Communicators, Engaged Citizens, Balanced Individuals/Best Self. There is an shared benefit between the students in Room 2 and their volunteer peer buddies. The room 2 curriculum benefits from the participation of the Del Mar students and the Del Mar students are equally enriched by having this opportunity on campus.

I really hope this petition works because I worked with the kids almost every day this year so it is really important to me! I really want more people to expirience this life changing thing that I got to experience this year!!!

they deserve to be there as much as we do. i love this classroom and the kids and to see them leave would be heartbreaking. the school needs the space, but so does stephanie and all the kids in room two. the school is kicking pretty much kicking out our friends because they take up one single classroom, and apperantly that i to much to give. seeing them go would be seeing a part of del mar go
