Ronnie Paxson Playground

Our love to Ron. We shared many a laugh snd dinner!!

I remember Ronnie well. He was (and I assume still is) a wonderful, sweet person. He was always wandering around Westvale - always with a smile.

I remember Ronnie back in the early sixties when I was in grade school and the many years that followed. Always thought of him as a gently giant of the neighborhood and Cherry Road playground.

Thank you to the people organizing this. I think Ron will be very happy about this honor.

I would like to add my name this petition. He was/is a Westvale institution.

It was always a treat to run into Ronnie. He was so uplifting and positive. As the mother of a mentally challenged daughter I cannot think of a nice way to honor Ronnie.

Ronnie Paxson is one of the greatest people I've ever met, and definitely deserving of this honor!

My children grew up knowing this gentle giant of a man... what a beautiful beautiful tribute....

Ronnie Paxson was an integral part of Westvale life. We called him the "Mayor of Westvale" . This is about paying tribute to a legend.

I strongly urge the Westhill board of education to reconsider their denial of naming the Cherry Road playground after Ronnie Paxson. I lived on Cherry Road for over 20 years and Ronnie was the heart and soul of the entire neighborhood. He would greet every child with a small and a cheerful hello. He was a great example for the kids at Cherry Road school. By Ronnie just being Ronnie he helped all of them to realize that being different did not mean you could not be happy. There was always something to be happy about with Ronnie and he shared it with everyone. I'm sure many of you on the board never knew Ronnie. To know him is to know that handicaps do not make a person unlovable or a burden but rather very special He was part of everything in the Westvale neighborhood. He was at every Cherry Road concert and every opening day of Little League. Where he was a coach for 30 years. Ronnie may not be a memory for everyone especially over the past 10 years. But he was Westvale. He was Cherry Road school. He was a special person to the Westhill Community. Please do not forget the past of this great school and neighborhood. Ronnie was a huge part of that playground, school and neighborhood. His handicap made him extra special to everyone. I believe honoring Ronnie by naming the play ground after would demonstrate that the Westhill community accepts everyone and acknowledges our differences and the positive impact these difference can have on a community.

Ronnie hit 544 home runs in one game against the Yankees. He told me this at the Cherry Road tennis courts

I knew him at Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church.

This is a terrific idea. Ronnie is a wonderful man. Always has been, always will be.

You couldn't ever miss him and his radio. We would hear him coming from down the block and run out to say hi!

My husband and I moved to Parsons Drive in 2001 and knew no one in the neighborhood. Ronnie was the first neighbor to introduce himself and visited us often. He always brightened our day when we saw him!!!

I have very fond memories of Ronnie on the Cherry Road playground and the streets of Westvale. I can not think of a greater tribute to Ronnie than naming the playground after him.
