We, the Collegues, Friends, and Former Students of Roderick D. Giles come together and say: Do not terminate Roderick D. Giles as an instructor at Bronxnet! Roderick is an exceptionally gifted teacher and is
an asset to Bronxnet. He is a talented
and accomplished professional who succinctly and enthusiastically brings his
real-life experience and knowledge as director/producer/writer/editor to the
classroom providing his students with clear-cut, realistic insight into working
in these professions.
As a dedicated teacher, Roderick is truly passionate
about influencing his students’ lives and strives to equip them with the
greatest amount of knowledge and skills possible to help them. Given the fact that Roderick teaches media classes
in the Bronx, where there is a largely under-served population, the media
literacy skills that he teaches to his students empowers them by giving them an
opportunity to be included in the dialogue of the media system, a forum where
they might otherwise be shut out of.
Bronxnet provides affordable media education and
offers students the opportunity to have a voice and to be heard in their
community. Roderick is a teacher who is committed to helping his students find and
express their own voices. It would be an
injustice to future generations of students at Bronxnet if Roderick were no
longer available to teach them there. Please retain Roderick D. Giles on the
faculty of Bronxnet.
He helped me get my start in media. BRONXNET WOULD BE MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE LETTING HIM GO.
