My son is basically teaching himself at this point. He is staring at a screen for hours just reading slides and watching videos, not actually learning anything. This needs to change immediately.

The amount of busy work is insane and none of it replaces a real teacher actually explaining the lessons. My daughter is drowning in assignments and nobody is there to help her.

I have 3 children in the K-5 virtual and it is working well. I have 1 child in the 6-12 virtual and he is basically teaching himself it is not fair and he and other children deserve better.

Assignment load is a huge issue. On virtual days each class should be the standard time it has always been. They are getting a tremendous amount of home work, or assignments to complete, in more complex manner, using Google classroom. It is cumbersome. Then off to the next class, where the teacher supplements dittos for instruction. After 8 classes the children are inundated with classwork and in many cases, left not fully understanding the material. a 40+ min virtual instruction could cut back on much unnecessary stress.

Both my sons were honor students. Both attend and do their work. Both have been marked absent. They are u see constant stress as teachers are timing them. No sels are being met. Both are failing at least one class. Great job RP!

I feel that our kids are not getting the education they need and deserve. There is not enough teaching happening. It is putting a heavy burden on them to have to teach themselves, not all kids are capable of doing that. I understand that we have to follow the state’s Covid protocols, but if we can’t give the kids a proper education with our hybrid model, then perhaps we should go full virtual and give them 5 days of actual online teaching. I’m very concerned about how my child will be able to pass the regents exams this year. We are at a huge disadvantage.
