Rocky remained a man of great character despite the setbacks he faced. Inept management probably restrained him from recording even better statistics. Many recent additions to the HOF had far easier paths to stardom.

I saw Rocky play many times at old Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Not only was he an outstanding baseball player, without a doubt he was one the nicest and most popular ever.

Few remember how Rocky’s final lifetime stats compared to Kiner, Hodges among others. All these players numbers have been dwarfed by modern day players but I believe it’s important to remember these players for what they accomplished in their own time period!

My Dad and my uncle (both Southern Middle Tennesseans) who were Indians fans from the days of the powerful nighttime AM radio stations. In my nearly 50 year baseball fandom, I heard Colavito mentioned in almost equal terms as Mays, Aaron, Clemente, Williams, and Musial….the Baseball Gods of the 50’s and 60’s. They were not casual fans. Smart, tough play, demeanor, and productivity were the milestones they judged a player by, and Rocky checked all those boxes.

The HOF should be ashamed of itself. ROCKY should have been in while he was living. He didn’t get to enjoy it. It’s for him not his fans. HOF can shove it where the sun don’t shine.

He should be in the Hall. Rare combination of offense (outstanding power, few strikeouts) and great defense. One of the strongest arms in history.

Ricky was a great player. He could hit home runs but he had an arm that was like shooting bullets out of a rifle.
He could have been a relief pitcher but they didn’t have them back then not like today.
He was also just a great person from what 8 have heard. I bought his book Don’t Knock three Rock. I see have it.
