As a youngster growing up in a city (Nashville) where minor league baseball was dieing, I became a rabid baseball fan because of Rocky Colavito. Today at the age of 78, the Rock is still my all-time favorite athlete. In 1961, the year of Roger Maris and Mantle's chase of the Babe's 60 Homer's, Colavito hit 45 HRS, 140 RBIs and batted .290. His effort along with Kaline and Cash nearly led the Tigers to dethrone the dreaded Yankees. Rocky was the spark the Tigers needed to keep them in the race. Rocky belongs in the HOF.

Rocky was my favorite player when I began playing baseball as a kid in N.E. Ohio. His numbers and popularity merit his election to the Hall.
