I'm a Detroiter ,and he was my hero growing up as a kid, and still is .I saw him play at Tiger Stadium we sat in left field. Rocky threw a ball our way i went for it fought for it ,but came up short. It sticks in my memory, I'll never forget it ,and him. Love ya Rocky

And he may have had the strongest arm ever. When just coming up in a spring training session, several players were at home plate hitting balls in pregame warm-ups. When he got there the others, having heard rumors of his power, handed him a bat and challenged him to put one over the fence. He threw down the bat he was given, picked up a ball and threw it over the center field fence 455 feet away.
