I saw him play for the KC Athletics. He was just awesome. Loved how he pointed his bat at the pitcher before every pitch. He was a real class act on and off the field.

I knew he was good but had no idea of his dominant decade. Definitely should be in the HOG

I grew up playing, watching and loving baseball. I survived many years of not-so-great favorite teams - Phillies and Indians. I barely survived the Rocky Colavito trade - his 41 homers and 140 Rbi's soon thereafter proved what a disaster it was. I still hate Frankie Lane who made that idiotic deal that hurt so many fans who idolized Rockly. He was a great hitter with a rocket arm. A good man with a great smile.
I almost gave up on the sport in the 94-95 strike that took away the season. But eventually I came back. The Phillies woke up and won a couple of World Series and people like Mike Schmidt kept me interested in the game. Cleveland got into a couple of World Series without a title due to the "curse" (good book).
But now my grandson plays on a travel team as a 12 year old. He has the excitement I once had. I know because at age 78 I warm him up before he enters games as a pitcher.
I have regained some of my enthusiasm but if you do one simple thing - put Rocky in the HOF where he belongs, i will have come all the way back to the same level of love for the game as a 6 year old boy. Rockly earned it.
