Robin Williams was born in Chicago. A good sculpture is a good sculpture no matter where it is made. I would love to be the one to make it. Amazing guy, huge loss.

I hope that one day i can have the honor of sitting down with this statue. You know you've done great when a teenager wants to watch the movies you made years before he was born. Godspeed Robin.

Hey guys! Thanks for starting this petition, I'm happy to add my voice to it. I recently started a discussion on Reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/boston/comments/2dc285/idea_statue_of_mr_williams_on_the_public_garden/) to talk about just this idea, and I've received some helpful feedback both via the comments and a few private messages as well. Would love to help get this idea moving, and have some contacts who may prove helpful as well. Please contact me and let me know!

Great idea. Happy to donate. It would also be terrific to get Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to dedicate the sculpture.

Hey, this happened only 8 days after I decided to make a change for the better and fight my own depression. Robin was an inspiration and brought a lot of good memories to a dark time in my life. I started writing a blog as a was to try to fight my depression, and toward the end of yesterday's there was a piece on him. Feel free to comment on it if so inclined. http://happydays080414.blogspot.com/2014/08/robbed-of-robin-081114.html I fully support the statue idea!!

This needs to be a thing. "It would also be terrific to get Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to dedicate the sculpture." I would add Dustin Hoffman.

Robin was not a Bostonian, but he loved the city and that love was reciprocated. That scene of that movie is iconic to Boston and is one of the best cinematic moments of all time. Robin spent his life bringing comfort to people. Please, let us honor his legacy by allowing people to be comforted by his likeness for decades to come. Long after his death is forgotten, let us celebrate his beautiful life.

Applause for this petition. This statue is an amazing opportunity, a golden one even, to send a message to many different people about an immense range of things––spanning from how men must be allowed emotional freedom, to the necessity of compassion, to the need to lose prejudice, to (hopefully) also as a call for educated awareness towards mood disorders. (Amongst many other things!) Death should NEVER be used as an item of publicity, but––if it should occur––it offers an opportunity for those now living to learn, to change, to care.

Just my two cents but I think it would be more meaningful if the sculptor were from New England. Also, has anyone contacted Marty Walsh's office about this? You'll need mayoral and possibly gubernatorial approval.

My name is Virgil Oertle. I am a sculptor in Salt Lake City. I would love to be the one to sculpt this for you. I have recently created sculptures featuring University mascots seated or standing behind a bench. I am great with the figure and can create a great likeness and a sculpture full life. Please look me up on facebook. Virgil Tyler Oertle. Then look under Art by Virgil. Or call me.916-220-9511. Would love to see this through and can handle all aspects of the creation and installation. Robin Williams has always been part of my life in one way or another and this would be a great tribute to him. Nanu nanu!

Despite his inglorious end, he was a glorious man.The world is a harsher, colder place without him. He was one of the great human beings of our time. If we ever actually encounter an alien race, Robin would be a fitting choice to represent humanity and all that we are, what we wish we are not, and all that we aspire to be. I can think of no better tribute to the man than to impel us to reflect on ourselves.

Это хорошая идея. Я надеюсь, что всё получится. Покойтесь с миром, Робин МакЛорин Уильямс. (It's a good idea. I hope that everything will turn out. Rest in peace, Robin McLaurin Williams.)

I would love to see this happen, he was an amazing person who touch the lives of everyone. Its a little sad to think he is gone and didn't know how much he was loved. Its not everyday a person is memorialized by a statue, you would have to be very important to have one, and he deserves one. May you rest in paradise sweet Robin, and you will live forever within all of us.
