The majority of us students at RVHS do abide by the rules of the Secondary School Student Hand Book of ECISD. However, there are a few things that leave some of us baffeled and a bit upset. Many students do not use their cell phones during school hours. this is petition is targeted to the students that get their phone taken away for the following reasons...

1. They were transfering their phone from their bag to their pocket.

 2. They asked their friend to hold their phone while they used the restroom and came back to get it.

3. They had their phone out of thier bag/ pocket while they adjust something.

 In all these instances the phone was off and the only dilema was that it was out. We, the students of robert vela, would not be so upset if it were not for the fact that it seems like the teachers get some reward out of this... A witness (that will remain anonymous) has seen how teachers go to the principals office to report how many phones they colected and has seen, the principle would then write down the names of the teachers and the number of phones colected. Ironicly, some of those same teachers would be texting in class and other things that students would be penalized for. My question is, if the adults do not hold up the rules and follow them, what makes people think that the younger generation should?

Our goal here is not to go against the policies or slanderise our beutiful school. Those who sign this petition only want the school to meet with these conditions...

1. That if the school officilals are strict upon the students they must also be just as strict upon the teachers.

2. That certain individuals do not become abusive of their power.

3. That we all get an issue of the studnet hand book so that we may read and verify the codes, not just have them oraly said to us.

4. That it is verified to us if the teachers do get a reward for reporting cellphones.

Other conditions may vary...
