We are deeply sadden with the decision to have Mr. Walker leave the school. He has probably been the teacher who touched Henry the most. Every single day in second grade Henry would talk about the history classes. He learned so much, was so excited about these classes, and truly egger to learn more about history every day. Henry absolutely loved his classes. Henry cried yesterday knowing that Mr. Walker was leaving.
We would like to ask the school to reconsider its decision. We understand that costs need to be cut. We also run businesses and now that is sometimes a reality. But the truly great teachers should be the very last ones asked to leave. And that is how we, many other parents, and our children see Mr. Walker.

Mr. Walker is an asset to our community in so many ways. He is not only an inspired educator but a patient and engaging sportsman, imaginative historian and creative visionary! To let him go would be a great loss for our children,.we need to do all we can to retain teachers like him!

Mr. Walker is an outstanding teacher and a favorite (maybe the favorite) of our son Henry. I strongly encourage TPS to reconsider its decision and keep Mr. Walker on staff. It is very rare to find a teacher who has such a profound impact on students. Who else can inspire 1st and 2nd graders to truly love history?

Our daughter Deirdre has lots of fond memories with Mr. Walker and we never wondered why. Calm, poised and authoritative even when he's always in the midst of these giddy little voices and their constant chatter. Not only does he have the temperament and the skill for these kids' prickly personalities, he also possesses a genuine desire to help them succeed which makes their partnership not only productive but mutually profound. These are the people that sets TPS apart, these are some of the reasons that makes TPS special and in their seven year old minds, "hallowed". While we truly understand that sometimes we are faced with tough choices but hopefully not at the expense on what makes TPS special. Future TPS kids will certainly benefit for having Mr. Walker around.

The kids adore Mr. Walker. He exemplifies what an educator should be. His passion for teaching is evident and should be rewarded by having the TPS community pull together and do whatever it takes to keep him. I feel like losing him on top of the others leaving like Ms Allbert is the straw that breaks the camel's back and shakes my confidence in the school. The literally crying over his announcement and anyone who truly cares about TPS and its future should cry out to keep him!!!!

In 17 years as a history professor at the U.S. Military Academy, I have encountered many gifted educators, but not until meeting Rob Walker had I met someone with his unique blend of passion, knowledge, and creativity. He not only teaches history; he inspires students to want to learn history. He has had the most consequential and positive influence on the education of my son, Jefferson. I cannot imagine TPS without him, nor can I accept that he will not be present to share his exceptionally gifted brand of teaching with my daughter, Grace. Rob Walker is indispensable. The school has made a serious mistake by not renewing his contract. Fortunately, it is an error that can and must be corrected.

We are deeply saddened about the budget cuts and the decision to let Rob Walker go. He is an exemplary teacher and is an ideal role model. I have seen so many teachers, at so many schools, while doing my curriculum research and TPS will never find another teacher like him.... He is irreplaceable! There must be other ways to save or raise funds, but cutting top teachers should been seen as a last resort. TPS needs him and I know that he loves TPS!!!

Rob's influence extends beyond the second grade. My son Luca (3rd) was lucky to have him for both 1st and 2nd grade and still talks about him. TPS will be a lesser place without him.
