We, the undersigned, call on the Brisbane City Council, and the Lord Mayor, to improve the safety and road conditions of the area around Coorparoo Square and Coorparoo Junction, including Cavendish Road, Holdsworth Street, Harries Road, Mansfield Street, and Wakefield Street.
Council should engage in immediate community consultation working towards delivering solutions for:
- Improvements, such as installation of signals or roundabouts, and/or realignment as appropriate, to the intersections of Holdsworth Street and Harries Road, and Holdsworth Street, Kitchener Road and Cavendish Road.
- Extension of a 24 hour ‘no stopping zone’ along the section of Cavendish Road between Old Cleveland Road and Holdwsworth Street.
- Enhanced pedestrian markings for the slip lane from Harries Road to Old Cleveland Road, and crossings at Mansfield Street
- Consultation on making Holdsworth Street and Wakefield Street one way only
- Safer pedestrian crossings across Holdsworth Street between Coorparoo Square and Woolworths

I pass through and shop in this area and it is often congested with many vehicles changing lanes to try and move around choke points. This also leads to some local streets being used as rat runs and then risky vehicle movements to cross Cavendish or Harries Rd. It is an area highly risky for any pedestrian, especially our older residents accessing the medical / pharmacy areas.
I need a traffic light at corner of Halstead St and Cavendish Road to turn right from eastside (e.g. Coorparoo State School entrance on Halstead St) onto Cavendish Road so I can head north towards Old Cleveland Road.
Thank you. The roads definitely need to be upgraded, especially with the increased population growth.
Why wasn’t slip lanes put in for buses or parking when the towers were in construction? There is plenty of pavement beside Old Cleveland and Cavendish Roads that can be cut into for buses to use. Same goes for the highrises further down Cavendish Rd towards the train station. Not to mention the train station desperately needs an upgrade also. More carparking at train station too. Sooo behind and no common sense!
Somebody will be seriously injured in the area soon. It is an easy fix and not expensive
On any of the streets around Coorparoo Square pedestrians crossing are lacking and it also makes it very difficult for drivers.
This area of Coorparoo is a serious hazard for pedestrians which should be fixed as it's where all the foot traffic in Coorparoo is

An elderly family friend was hit by a bus and died when trying to cross a couple of years ago. Thank you for highlighting the need to fix these dangerous roads.
