We need reduced speed and school patrol stop signs and zebra crossing on Townsend Road. We live in the Townsend Fields subdivision and I walk to school everyday with my 5 year old and baby in pram and it is not safe for children to cross without this due to the speed and amount of cars.

Show the children in our community you care for their safety - get those road crossings done as soon as possible please.

The council must sort this asap as the roads around Te Matauru primary are incredibly busy.

This area is becoming very busy with a lot more traffic and more children are needing to cross safely to get to and from school. Safer crossing areas are needed ASAP .

Speeders on west belt are horrendous and many accidents -people rear-ending people trying to turn because they are driving too fast!

Drive past everyday, surely a safe crossing point is a basic right not something you should have to fight for.

Children need to feel safe going to and from school. Lower speed limits and designated road crossings are required.

Good on you kids. The World Health Organisation recommends a maximum speed limit of 30km/h outside schools. I have set up NZ School Speeds and lobby the Government to put consistent speed limits of 30km/h outside every school in New Zealand. I can’t believe that a school needs to meet required numbers for a formalised crossing. Every child should have a right to get to school safe.

Absolute no brainer that kids safety should be a priority over cars. Good luck!

I would expect every school in NZ to have a crossing at there school and was actually shocked to see that our new primary school doesn’t have one. The area is currently growing with a new sub division and surely this should be a priority. I would hate to see an accident before anything is done to protect our tamariki.

They should change the speed from 70kph to 50kph at Johns Road. I saw every morning everytime i dropped off mh kids lots of students are walking or biking to school. Its not safe for them if we had that speed limit around that area.
