As an alumni student from RKA, I can say that after experiencing the overcrowded halls, classrooms, cafeteria, and gym, the school does not need to limit any more space than it already is. Please be aware and conscious of the limited space RKA has to offer to their students, let alone to students who do not belong in the school.

Due to the negligence of former Principal, Donna Connolly, the school lost their lease in the Whitehall building. They housed the 5th graders of PS 24.
They should find other space as opposed to adding to the overcrowding of RKA.
Build temporary classrooms outside.

RKA is already overcrowded and to suggest that more students should be allowed to attend the school is compromising the education of the students already there. There should be another alternative created for PS 24.

I believe PS 24 should find alternate space in their own school. Many rooms could bee missed used. For example double up on office for certain admin. and coaches.

It is imperative that native RKA students have the space needed in order to learn in a spacious and comfortable environment. RKA is already dealing with space issues of its own.

As it is RKA has no hallway room during the change of periods. The students are literally pushing and stepping each other. It is common for my son to get pushed and hurt because of the density of the crowd. There is no room in RKA even for our own students!!! It is bad enough that the high school students and the middle school students have to encounter each other during the change of periods, which of course leads to arguments between them. If the number of students increases so will the number of bullying incidents and accidents. Children will get hurt by being pushed on a wall or squeezed between crowds. The students only have a very little time to run to the next period. In order for a child to be on time for class, and not get in trouble for being a minute late, they must RUN because sometimes they have to go up two or three floors for their next class and the compact hallways always delay them. Changes should happen only to improve the educational environment of a student, not make worse. Students have the right to a safe school environment and by increasing the number of children in the buidling we are jeopardizing their rights.

As a grandparent of two current RKA students, I do not want their school to be overcrowded. Speaking from personal experience, overcrowding creates a stressful learning experience especially for the youngest students.

My daughter is in 6th grade at 141, and she and her classmates can barely walk the halls during the change of periods. She eats lunch at 10:30 because of so many lunch periods. There are 300 incoming 6th graders for next year. There is NO ROOM at 141. Period.

Please. look for another solution to PS 24's problem. RKA is already over crowded. The most popular interim solution to provide classroom space is to bring in portable buildings.

To whom this may concern:
Please, do not compromise my child's education now that she is thriving in a smaller class at RKA. She wakes up bright and early (real early) in the morning eager to get to school and learn new things. She has assumed her role as a student that completes her homework and submits her assignments on time, participates and is a vibrant student in her classroom thanks to the attention she is receiving in a small class.
Please do not rob her of her chances of success in school. Look for other options that will benefit the kids from PS 24, But won't interfere with my daughter's efforts.

As a parent of a MS141 student, it is not fair to compromise his education by crowding and thereby jeopardizing his right to a decent sized class which affords him the opportunity to learn without competing for attention. We need to take education of our children seriously and not feel that we can provide subpar environments or reduce the necessary resources due to naïveté or neglect of or educational system.
