Right idea. Wrong location. Riversdale has enough social supports. Unhoused populations are a city wide responsibility.

Putting poverty in one location creates ghettos , increase crime, property damage. This is not what it is best for the community.

City needs to stop using Riversdale and the Westside as a homeless solution.

This purchase was done without any consideration for the people that live in the area. Due diligence was not done before hand! You sit in your homes not having any issues like the people in this area and you just think it’s okay to do things like this because you are not affected. Our property has gone down in value but our taxes go up.
I strongly oppose this warm up centre!!

Respectfully, I have a son living in The Banks. We made an investment in this area as we perceive that it will continue to improve over time, even as it clearly has challenges such as open drug use, bonfires in open lots, vandalism of our cars, and intrusions into our buildings. Additional foot traffic to a night time warmup shelter is not welcome.

Listen to the advice of Major Taylor of the Salvation Army who SHOULD KNOW where to locate the shelter away from this concentrated area. He is the expert on this issue.

This shelter will cause a great depletion in the safety & property degradation of this area. We as a community have spent years rejuvenating this neighborhood.. Councillors and decision makers can have this shelter in their own backyards. Then they will understand the magnitude of this idea & it’s affects.

Where was the due process?
Is Major Gordon Taylor of the Salvation Army is against it, you know it's a bad idea.

So, so sick of these shelters. They are disasters. Nothing but zombies wandering around shouting and stealing bikes.

It is unwise to have two shelters so close together.
This action signifies the demise of Riversdale revitalization. We bought a condo at The Banks in good faith that the city would work towards improving this area. This does not appear to be the case.

I agree that this is a very very poor choice of locations as we already have a lot of issues in and around our area and amid our homes our safety is already at risk and the foul violent nature of the screaming yelling and breaking into our vehicles will only become worse

I disagree with this area being used as a shelter as homelessness should not be concentrated in one area. One of the reasons I bought my property at The Banks is because the city said they wanted to rejuvenate Riverdale. This decision doesn’t sound like it.

I agree with all that is stated.. being a business owner within the Banks courtyard… I deal with homelessness on a daily basis… which have included: excrement, garbage, sleeping, needles, verbal abuse.

My granddaughter lives across the street. There is already lots of crime, overdosing and issues in that area as is . Park is a block away that young children can no longe4 play in for homeless encampments and drug debris .
Bad bad idea .

We are concerned with that move as a pediatric office.
