I received my Rivermist email today regarding the pool opening. It seems the board has raised the age for a child to get into the pool without an adult from 10 to 12. From what I have been able to discover, there were a few children last year that the lifeguards were unable to control. If there are just a few who are an issue, there are remedies in the pool rules to deal with that. There was no reason to penalize a whole group of kids because of just a few. I believe this change is something that should have been presented to the whole association for discussion and vote.
Please sign this petition to allow the age to revert back to 10 until such time as there can be meaningful discussion with the board regarding the proper age.
The board thought they could quietly push this change through without anyone noticing. Now that we have this momentum they can no longer pretend this is just a minor neighborhood issue.

Total overreach by the board. address the actual behavior instead of changing the rules for everyone.

Ridiculous change. 10 is old enough to sit by a pool. Stop making things harder for working parents!

My son is 11 and very responsible. He hates that he can't go with his friends now. This is unfair.

My kids have been going alone since they were 10 and they know the rules fine. Punishing everyone for one or two bad apples is lazy management.

Seriously? The board just does whatever they want without asking us. Bring it back to 10.
