I also think having an easy licensing program to keep chickens in a clean and orderly manner is an excellent idea. To allow people to raise more of their own food is a great way to promote sustainability.

Licensed owners should be allowed to keep chickens in their yards in residential property, provided proper care of them is kept, just as owners must take care of other pets that occupy outdoor space, like dogs and cats.
Chickens are useful animals that will help people be more self-sustaining and will keep Edmonton eating local!

i believe that raising a couple of chickens in my back yard with be both an educational experience for my family as well as an environmental plus.

Not allowing city residents to raise chickens is silly. It's time to change, Edmonton. And what a small change it would be!
