Awards Day in Ringtown Elementary has been a very special day for many years. It is a day where the children deserve recognition for their hard work in front of family and friends!
During the April 12th PTO meeting, it has been decided by the Ringtown/Frackville and Ashland Principal, as well as the NS Superintendant, that a new format for this event will take place. The new format has been explained as simply distributing the awards to the children in their classroom, as they would their homework or report cards.
Many parents feel this takes away recognition for the outstanding accomplishments of each individual that worked hard for such awards.
For those of you that agree, we have decided to start a petition to keep the format of this day as it has been in the past.
(If you are a concerned parent from Frackville-Ashland Elementary and would like to sign, please do so and write your school in the comments section.)
Along with your signature, feel free to comment on why you believe this should be a continued event.
Please remember to have your children sign if this day is important to them.
The district has remained completely silent since I reached out to them last week. It is draining to keep pushing against a wall of indifference while they try to minimize the hard work of our children by hiding these awards in envelopes. I am exhausted by this process but I will not let them quietly erase a tradition that matters to our students.

Seeing this much momentum is exhausting but it confirms that I am not the only one fighting for these kids. The administration thinks we will just go quiet if they ignore us but we are not going anywhere.

My daughter has worked so hard for these awards. She deserves to walk across that stage and feel proud of herself. Do not take this moment away from them.

This is ridiculous. Kids need to be celebrated for their effort. Frackville-Ashland Elementary needs to keep the assembly!
