Right To Work While Being Transgender
WORK PLACE JUSTICE FOR REMEKE JAMES
AS of Thursday my case with the City and County of San Francisco has been moved into settlement terms, and the trial has been pulled off of calendar. I have many mixed feelings about the case, and the real lack of justice within the system in which we work. Laws are nothing without enforcement of them.
I am truly disappointed in many ways but believe that there is a time and reality to impact litigation. I had the blessing of support from many of you, in both the signing of the petition and a foundation of some great people around me. I THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
AS I watch a new agenda of hate towards transgender people and bathroom rights, the steps of going backward instead of forward are clear to me towards us as a whole. Employment, housing, privacy, bathroom, and safety is a reality for many of us on a daily basis. I personally have experienced many encounters of openly expressed hatred, and with the new current movement of Hate, I believe that there will be more encounters for many of us.
So to all of you take your life seriously and be aware and informed while; STANDING UP, STAYING STRONG, and VOTING. I hope to see you in the next chapter of this movement.
Much Appreciation to all of you.
Peace, Remeke James

The City and County of San Francisco pushed for trial date to be extended out to April 11, 2016 and got it approved. While we are preparing to fight this major case of discrimination, we ask for your continued support of Mr. James in this battle.
This letter is in support of Mr. James, who has worked for the City and County of San Francisco for over 20 years. For the past ten years he has been fighting for his rights; including the right to work in a work place free from harassment and hostility that is directed towards transgender employees.
Mr. James is currently embroiled in a legal battle to save his right to work with dignity. We are asking for your support so that Mr. James and his legal team can effectively go up against a large government agency that is the City and County of San Francisco.
The City of San Francisco and the State of California both have laws that are provided so that transgender people are allowed to work and earn an income in a safe and respectful work environment. The City and County of San Francisco also provides transgender –inclusive health benefit services as part of its employee compensation package. After Mr. James availed himself of this medically necessary treatment he suffered ridicule and harassment from co-workers as well as supervisory personnel. In response the City and County of San Francisco made no real attempt to enforce any disciplinary action.
Our victory will spread the word about this broken promise of equality in the work place. We need to hold the City and County of San Francisco accountable to its own public commitment to equality for transgender employees.
We believe that this case is important for Mr. James and for all transgender people who are enduring hostile work environments with no enforcement of the policies that are intended to protect them.
Please join us and sign this petition in support of Mr. James and the Right of Transgender People to Work in a Safe and respectful work environment. In a city that promotes itself as being one of the most diverse, progressive, and equal cities in the country we need to make citizens aware of this hypocrisy.
“I believed in the ideals that the city said around diversity. I was proud to work for the city but did not know that the city was not proud to have me work for them. I have been dehumanized. My body has been subject to ridicule. I am consistently being referred to as female . Supervisors and co-workers alike point me out to anyone including outside vendors. The behavior has made me feel like a freak in a zoo. Why do I not deserve to have someone enforce these laws?”-Remeke James“
Your support is greatly appreciated,
