The Board just confirmed the referendum will be on the ballot and I am honestly still in shock. This happened only because you chose to speak up for our community. Please stay watchful as we head toward the vote.

The Racine County Board of Supervisors is considering the sale of Ridgewood Care Facility - the county's only public nursing home - to a for-profit business.

A decision of this importance should be decided by voters through an advisory referendum placed on the ballot.

Racine County residents should be allowed to vote on the sale of Ridgewood Care Facility. We ask every Racine County Board Supervisor to vote "YES" to place the proposed advisory referendum question on the spring ballot in April, 2017.

Proposed referendum question:

“Shall the County of Racine continue to own its skilled nursing facility, Ridgewood Care Center, as an important public resource that should be included as part of the annual budget of the County of Racine?”

Let the people vote.

Please don't sell Ridgewood to Villa. I've heard nothing but horrible things about them and I would hate to see the place I've worked at for 4years and love very much go down hill. Right now these residents receive the best of cares and I'd hate to see that go away.

My mother had to go to Ridgewood for rehab, and we were very happy with the nursing home. The other "for profit" nursing homes are not run nearly as well as Ridgewood is. I think we need to keep Ridgewood as a County run nursing home.

Let the people decide since we both use it and pay for it. A referendum is the only way we will truly know how the community feels about it. Then we can all respect the decision because it was fairly made.

I visit Ridgewood weekly to pray and bring communion to 10 people. I would hate to see the quality of care of this institution decrease as I have observed in other facilities recently bought by for-profit organizations. Their cost cutting strategies to maximize profits are at the expense of residents which is sad.

I have GRAVE concerns over a short term financial solution of selling the county home for the sake of current trends. Public ownership serves as a buffer between profit only capitalism and benevolence of a dedicated public group. In weighty decisions such as this, we the people need our voice to be heard.

As a County facility - the COUNTY provides for citizens (individuals) without considering them "consumer" that "provide profit". Meaning True CARE without the profit motive coming first. YES! I want a say about Ridgewood Care Center.
