This whole redistricting fiasco has not made sense from the start, and now forcing 47 children to leave Riderwood a "Blue Ribbon' school, to be placed in the new school in Mays Chapel makes even less sense. Just another example of the school board and politicians not listening to the people they are supposed to be serving.

Riderwood is currently only 8 students over its capacity, I believe that removing the families north of Seminary will have a substantial negative impact on the school because several families living in those neighborhood are active volunteers who contribute to making Riderwood a great school. I also sympathize with the concerns of those families that they are geographically more part of the Riderwood community given that the access to their streets is on Seminary. I will not be redistricted now or probably any time in the future, but I feel that keeping the families north of Seminary as part of Riderwood ES is the best for the school and for my family at this time.

Redistricting Riderwood Elementary School 3 times in 6 years is ridiculous. The school is currently only 7 children over capacity and yet 47 children are being redistricted. This school is a resounding success. Why can't it be left alone? Why should children who live within walking distance to this school be bussed to a school miles from their homes? There is simply no reason to do this. It's time to stop the social engineering at the expense of our children's welfare. Leave well enough alone.

With no new housing planned in this district and a low turnover in retail sales, the 8 student over capacity according to BCPS (Cropper GIS Study) will be reduced in time. All other ES in the BC district are more over capacity and the current Riderwood ES zone should be maintained. A simple drive around this area on a Saturday afternoon would revel the demographic of the community.

I am a proud alumnae of this school, graduating in 2006. Now a freshman at Towson University, I support this for future generations as they deserve the same great opportunities this school gave to myself and my classmates.

Country Brook Way "Peer acceptance becomes more important during the school-age years (ages 6-12). Children may take part in certain behaviors to be part of "the group." Keep close communication with teachers, other school employees, and parents of your child's friends so you are aware of possible problems". ... NIH Without consistency, how can a student body build relationships that encourage good decision making and minimize risky behavior? And, how can parents build the village to support all community kids I petition to keep the West Seminary communities together. (and any other community for that matter) We appreciate anything you can do to make this happen. The kids we are impacting will be taking care of us one day.

The proximity of the neighborhood to the school makes it the best option for retaining its neighborhood identity.

Our children played with their Riderwood Elem classmates at Valley Countryclub pool for many years. Our children would play sports with their classmates on the Riderwood Elem sports field. We moved to this neighborhood because of Riderwood Elem. switching us away from Riderwood Elem negatively impact the value of our house.

We love Riderwood and would be devastated if it were not our neighborhood elementary school! It is a true hub of the neighborhood, just about 1 mile from our house, and it functions like the ideal elementary school for our kids. Don't change it!
