To: Missouri Department of Natural Resources Purpose of the Petition: The People of St. Louis County and the active users of Castlewood State Park request that Rich Love remain as Superintendent at Castlewood. We request that his move to Babler State Park be stopped immediately and that he remain in the same capacity at Castlewood so that he can continue to provide the outstanding service to the community as he always has. Reasons for the Petition: Castlewood State Park Experience Rich Love has been at Castlewood State Park for 18 years. He knows the park and the people that are active users of the park. And, with the economy in the state that it is, people will choose to reduce travel and spend more time at Missouri State Parks. Now is not the time to make the move and to lose valuable experience at one of the most heavily used parks in St. Louis County. Tax Dollars at Work Rich Love and his family are required to live on the premises of the state park. In order for him to move, his entire family and household belongings will need to be moved. His children will need to change school districts. Valuable tax dollars will be spent fixing up houses, packing up boxes, and paying for a move that will leave the Castlewood community with a less qualified park Superintendent. Service to the Community Rich Love has always been a strong supporter of Scouting and goes out of his way to help local troops earn badges, service hours, etc. He is quick to offer information about wildlife, make suggestions as to where to explore in the park, and assist with planning large group activities that help the girls and boys learn more about the out-of-doors. Losing Rich at Castlewood will be a tremendous loss to the Ballwin Scouting Community. Rich Love has gone over and above with his efforts to plan events for the Bicycling Community. He continually plans and supports night bike hikes and works with the bicyclists that participate to make sure that their safety and comfort are of utmost importance. Losing Rich at Castlewood will be a tremendous loss to the St. Louis County Bicycling Community. Rich Love works with the teachers and administration of the Parkway School District, especially those at Oak Brook Elementary and Parkway South High School to provide opportunities for the children of Parkway to learn about the out-of-doors. He plans, and often administers, the many talks to the children and activities for the children that enhance their classroom experience. Losing Rich at Castlewood will be a tremendous loss to the Parkway Oak Brook and South High Community. Rich Love has provided outstanding service to the Ballwin Community. Numerous events are offered by the Ballwin Community Recreation Center and Rich continually works with the staff to ensure that all needs are met. Rich has also planned and administered such events as the Conquer Castlewood Triathlon and Operation Clean Stream which provide opportunities for St. Louis County residents as a whole to enjoy Missouri State Parks. Losing Rich at Castlewood will be a tremendous loss to the Ballwin and St. Louis County Community.
