The council has officially scrapped the plan to sell the reserve. I am exhausted from this fight but deeply relieved that our green space will remain intact. Keep an eye on the local news just to be sure, but for now we can finally rest.

A proposal has been put forward to transform Richardson Reserve to a supermarket style shopping centre.
This open space and green area is critical to providing healthy habitat for humans, wildlife and plants in these densely built areas.
Richardson Reserve provides space for neighbourhood residents to interact with each other and meet new people. It is also a great space for events and for people to engage in recreational activities. This allows people to develop a sense of community.
Overall, Richardson Reserve provides many benefits such as:
- A play space for children
- Natural habitat for plants and animals
- Mental health boost
- Centre of community
- Recreation activities
- Physical activities
This proposed shopping centre is unnecessary; the nearest shopping centre from Richardson Reserve is a 1 minute drive away, followed by a 3 minute drive to the next nearest shopping centre, followed by a 5 minute drive from the next nearest shopping centre.
Join me to save Richardson Reserve; our Local TTG Councillor Paul Barbaro had tried to stop the proposal but was out voted - he will try again after the Community Consultation ends and the Report's findings are presented to council in late July.
Paul welcomes your comments at [email protected] and urges residents to complete the official community engagement questionnaire upon receipt next week. Residents will also be able to attend council's meeting when the matter is deliberated again. Ask Paul for details.

The fight for the reserve is exhausting but I am nowhere near ready to stop. We are nearly at our first goal so please take a moment to forward this to someone who lives nearby so we can finally break through this barrier.

Don’t sell this community land, so important for future generations of children who go to school next door and use it to play on. Big $$ and multi national companies should not be able to take this precious green space away forever!
Richardson Reserve needs to stay. The community needs more areas like this for all of us to enjoy. We have 6 supermarkets within a 2.5km radius of this reserve. Another one is NOT needed, especially next to 2 Primary Schools
I live on a street across from the proposed site! It's bad enough with the football traffic parking in my street causing chaos parking in idiotic places!! and turning around in my drive!!!!!! WE DO NOT NEED MORE SHOPS OR MORE TRAFFIC IN THIS NEIGHBERHOOD
We do not need another shopping centre, I have lived here for 30 years and all my children and grandchildren regularly use the the reserve for practices, exercises or just watching the local soccer. Unnecessary. Totally against this. We are surrounded in Shopping centres.
We do not need another supermarket in this area. We do not need increased traffic in an area where there is a school. Utilise the area and fix the soccer pitches for the club that has the largest junior participation in the state.
Leave natural habitat alone. We dont need more shops
We need more open space not less and a new shopping centre is not required.

Abandoned commercial real estate is available in the CTTG. No need to sacrifice community zoned land in an area where there is already an abundance of shopping centres, which most if not all, have vacant tenancies already.
