The funding bodies need evidence of need, of which this online petition will form a crucial part. The proposed facility is planned on an area of reclaimed waste ground with no designated use, and we will be adding value and bio-diversity to the land, as well as improving the quality of life and opportunities for healthy activity in one of Wales poorest areas. On 8th January 2006, four members of Rhyl CC, Thomas Harland (14), Maurice Broadbent (61), Wayne Wilkes (42) and Dave Horrocks (55) were killed by an out-of-control vehicle while part of the Sunday club ride. It is partly as a memorial to them that this important development for the future has been put together.

I spent the morning looking at the site where we hope to build and thinking about how much Thomas, Maurice, Wayne, and Dave would have loved to see a safe space for riders here. The lack of response from the council is frustrating but we are continuing to prepare our formal presentation to ensure these plans cannot be ignored.

Seeing this level of support brings back so many memories of Thomas and the others. This momentum confirms that our community refuses to let their legacy be forgotten while we build something vital for the next generation.

Total no brainer. Waste ground is an eyesore anyways so why not put it to good use for the local lads.

RIP to the lads from the club. This track is the perfect tribute to them and a huge boost for the area.

This would be a brilliant way to remember those poor guys. Keeping the cycling community alive is what they would have wanted.

My son would be there every weekend if this gets built. Please make it happen.

Need this track bad. Nowhere safe to train round here and the traffic is getting worse for cyclists every single year.

About time we got something decent in Rhyl for the kids. Tired of seeing them just hanging around with nothing to do.
