Bad Language and Bad Taste come into life early enough, als we See on a daily base on our TVs. Once our school sythem has educated and formed our children to thinking adults, they can make their decision to the freedom of our press.

Joe S get a grip, take a breath, then find a life and please troll elsewhere. There are plenty of sites around where you can find progressively enlightened spirits like yours. Start your own petition and get them to sign their respective names, I'd love to see the agreement pattern...Point to where 'banned' is used in said?? I'd be intrigued by that Joe if that is your real name... Good luck Joe S., but please go away you've made your sophomoric talking points.. Thanks

Why? As a testament to our inability to think critically? So that future generations can mock us?

Did you read the except? After reading the book, would you agree it was taken out of context?

This is unbelievable! Has any signor of this petition ever been harmed by reading a book? Do we think that our children are scandalized by reading these texts? Do we all seriously not believe in intellectual freedom? Is Rumson going mad? Do you remember when Catcher in the Rye (or fill in the blank) was banned? I have an alternative to your petition. My opinion is that we lock our children in the library until they have each read ALL of the books in the library. I would make sure that the special library where we lock the children has enough food and water for everyone and enough copies of Nicholson Baker's House of Holes to go around. THAT IS HOW GOOD READING IS! I am going to start a petition on this idea to see if I can get a few people to agree with me. Then I am going to bring the sixty signatures I get on my petition to my local (under-paid and over-educated) Administrator of the Curriculum or whomever is being attacked here. I will remind him or her how MY idea is the most important idea, that I speak for everybody and that their opinion is uneducated and unimportant. Outlandish? Outlandish is trying to "protect" your child from a book. And please try to define "overtly excessive language"!

As a Rumson resident my entire life who also sent my 4 children through 12 years of Rumson public schools, I am saddened and dismayed that our once excellent public school system has lowered its values to this extent.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. It's outrageous that educators would think this is acceptable.
