I am all for more density, but NOT without adequate infrastructure, regulation, and planning. Roads and mass transit in the Twin Cities cannot handle the current population. Roads and bridges in Minneapolis are in terrible condition. Buses and the LRT do not work adequately for the majority of the population. I have seen many new homes (replacing "teardowns") in SW deteriorate badly after only a few years. Admit it, many of these projects simply look shoddy. Some front yards are now a mass of concrete, replacing green space. Developers must build as cheaply as possible to maximize profits. There should be an architectural board of review, with a mix of neighbors, engineers, and architects, for every new building constructed.

The ramifications of the 2040 plan will be significantly negative for generations to come. Please do not go forward with this plan. I will vote accordingly in the future.

We love living in Minneapolis with our young family. Please rethink this plan- our neighborhoods and the safety of our kids depends on managing traffic and flow in and out of our city streets. This plan benefits rich corporations and investors, not families that have committed to this city.

I oppose this plan. I am concerned about more density in an already overly dense neighborhood. This will change the nature and livability of Uptown, create more traffic and hence crime, and drive families away.

This plan is going to kill our city. Density does not equal affordable. This plan needs to be completely rethought. The mayor and city council members need to be transparent!

The strength of the "inner city" of Minneapolis is the character of the individual neighborhoods. I will almost guarantee that you WILL NOT BE RE-ELECTED if you try and force thisa on the present citizens of Minneapolis.

I agree completely with everything n this document. This plan will destroy our neighborhood and needs to be reworked. We should be allowed to have more input and this should be put on the ballot for our vote.

Sounds like ill-informed people are trying to follow general ideas from some book with no idea of how unique our city is. Needs are understood, but, come on people, your views of future possibilities need more in depth thinking from more than just city planners.

It will destroy my neighborhood to have the possibility of 4-Plexes and allow 6 story buildings nearby. This should be on the ballot for us to vote.

This plan will ruin our beautiful city. There's already terrible traffic and nowhere near enough parking.

As a longstanding Minneapolis resident, this plan is disturbing to say the least. Your one size fits all approach could and would most likely destroy what makes Minneapolis a special, unique & treasured city. Minneapolis has successfully married neighborhoods with small businesses to create diverse communities with their own unique vibe. PLEASE DO NOT destroy them. We already struggle with off street parking. (During the school year, we cannot park in front of our own home during the day and many small businesses have difficulty providing adequate parking for their customers. ) PLEASE DO NOT make the problem worse. We are have been experiencing increased traffic congestion, PLEASE DO NOT exacerbate the issue. Density for density sake is not a prudent development approach. How about addressing the transit issues first? This plan puts Minneapolis at risk on many levels. Giving developers an open slate is not wise! By not allowing each community to have input by drafting their own plan, your are allowing a few individuals to hold the fate of our neighborhoods and communities in their hands. PLEASE REWORK PLAN!!!!

I read much of the plan about 2 months ago. I am concerned that there are no limits to multi unit buildings in a block and no thoughts about parking. It is foolish to think that people are no longer going to own cars in the metro area. Also saying that developers are going to provide one unit per 4plex for low income families is wishful thinking no matter what the incentives may be.

The 2040 Plan, while claiming to be a long range plan, is, in fact, a very short-sighted, profit based scheme. Based upon a current, non-sustainable market wherein 100 yr (+) housing types are to be destroyed and replaced with cheaply planned and built housing. The latter is mostly modeled after quick built, dormitory style apartment blocks. Disposable housing, at best. Also, very anti-family as they are not designed to accommodate the needs of a family. The current city leaders are missing out on many opportunities to develop the city in much better ways. At present, our leaders are following a playbook from the development community. Disaster will be the outcome unless we change our plan, and our leadership.

We need more time to comment on this plan. At least extend the deadline.

Please reconsider your plan and seek additional input from residential homeowners who have made a vested commitment to live, work and play in the southwest part of the city even while facing mounting taxes and limited services. We LOVE our neighborhoods just the way they are.
