This zoning plan is ridiculous. You will disrupt just about every historic relevant area of the city as well as extremely impacting property values. I am guessing a large volume of class action lawsuits will ensue.

I agree with this petition.
Since upzoning reduces property values, it is irresponsible of the City Planning Director to claim they have no alternative to offer, in place of home-ownership, for citizens to build wealth.
The prevailing model of home-ownership provides incentive to care for one's property and neighborhood, in order to preserve the unique character and charm of Minneapolis.
Please rework this plan!

The 2040 plan will destroy MInneapolis. The Mayor and Chief Planner are not from Minneapolis and do not understand the history and culture of our neighborhoods or our love for Lake Bde Maka Ska, which their plan will destroy. They are giving our beloved Lakes to developers who can charge high rents in beautiful neighborhoods people save for 20+ years to earn their way into. No one will invest in their houses if they cannot trust city zoning laws. Zoning is a kind of contract the city makes with homeowners. They are threatening to break the contract and giving us no voice in that decision. Worse, our government is breaking our laws. The Shoreland Overlay ordinance is law that protects our lakes, rivers, and streams. The Mayor and Planners intend to break that law with their 2040 plan. They intend to give away our city to repay the developers that funded Mayor Frey's campaign -- problem is they are giving away something they do not own. It belongs to the people and they will not give the people a vote. And they will be voted out of office!

A resounding No! to the 2040 Plan. There are far more creative, less expensive, less intrusive ways to address the housing problem rather than building multiplexes in our gorgeous neighborhoods that would become a scar on this city should the 2040 Plan be implemented. If this goes through, and after the fact our citizens decide (or our so-called city leaders decide, since that seems to be the case) that maybe it wasn't such a good idea after all, tell me how could it ever be undone?
The city of Minneapolis has been making some dangerous mistakes in my opinion (like taxing the h*ll out of us for one thing). It's not unlikely that my husband and I will choose to live in neighboring Edina or St. Louis Park when the time comes to downsize. Such a sad situation that I would have to move out of a city I've loved and cherished for so long. I have Mayor Frey and our City Council to thank for that.

This plan is ill conceived and does nothing to address the issues it claims it will. Increasing density does nothing for affordability or equity. It does effect livability issues and communities with many unintended consequences.

Think of the future generations. Owning a family home with a yard will be unrealistic for many. Parking will be terrible. You would be selling the city of Minneapolis out to large construction companies and developers. No home owner wants this and I would like to own a home without competing for one with a large corporation with might as well have infinit Capital.

This needs to be reworked. Developers must create parking, Lower stories level down Nicollet corridor limit the zoning change to certain lots per block, not the entire block.

The equity promised by communism sounded good in theory, too. The difference between the Soviet Union and Minneapolis is that the Soviets could put a wall up to keep people from leaving.

This is a terrible plan for South Minneapolis. We vehemently oppose it and would consider moving out of this area if it persists.

Horrible plan that allows nearly UNLIMITED High Rise buildings in height and number surrounding our lakes. An attack on our livability!

This is a ridiculous plan that is shortsighted. It destroys the character and the uniqueness of neighborhoods in favor of development. This plan ends Minneapolis neighborhoods as we know them.

Need to align transit strategies with those of the Met Council and a more reasonable approach to public transit. Dial back the ideas of using bikes -- in Minnesota!

A complete win for developers and this doesn nothing for affordable housing. All we will see are $1m units in a four plex. Keep in mind the fourplexes are across the alley from single family homes. The goal to increase density will make the city unlivable.

Protect our neighborhoods and keep our streets charming and a safe environment for our families. The investment in our home and neighborhoods deserves a plan that maintains its integrity and preservation. Thank you.

I'm concerned about these changes to the neighborhood I've owned in since 1990.
I vote no on Minneapolis 2040!
STOP the madness!!
