As a coach in DPS I can honestly this is an absolute disgrace and disservice to our kids. DP is a rival coach and I always want to beat him on the field. However I have to put all that aside and speak to the injustice that is taking place. This could have been done to me or any other coach in our district. Joe Lacey votes yes on 96 other issues but wants to crucify DP for political points. Never mind all the other countless great things Powell and all the other coaches in this district do for our kids on a regular basis. He is out of touch and needs to be humbled and sat down. This situation is sticky and the fact that OHSAA weighed in on it with a District wide probation and a max fine and the Board still renewed Baker contract tells me the Board should be obligated to renew Coach Powell. As a DPS employee I don't coach in this system for the money, I do this because I care about the kids in the City of Dayton, and I know that's the case with Dee Powell and many other coaches in the district. The challenges that we face on a daily basis with these kids go without thanks from the out of touch, higher ups. This is a no brainer and common sense is the answer here. Restore Powell at Dunbar.

The DPS board was totally wrong for scapegoating Coach Powell. They know this whole incident stemmed from the actions of Mark Baker. To do something as malicious as this and have the players disrupted is inexcusable. Some of these players and staff have developed a bond that surpasses the football field. I am so disappointed in these actions and can't wait until it's election time again and use my vote to get fair people in those seats.

The Powell family is the reason I have been blessed to coach basketball in inner city schools. Albert Powell gave me my start by giving me the opportunity to coach Darren in AAU and then helped bring me to Dunbar, I was blessed to spend 3 years becoming a member of the Dunbar family, than 4 years at Ponitz as head coach and am now going on my 3rd year as the Varsity Basketball coach at Withrow High School. My family is now centered and focused on helping kids thanks to the Powell family.

I do not understand why this is even an issue to be voted upon. You allowed the the athletic director that caused the issue to to keep his job. Now there's issue to allow Coach Powell to continue coaching which is unfair. He already establish and working with the team creating comradery amongst everyone aiding the fatherless and mentoring the young man to be accountable and their actions. Playing a sport teaches so many life lessons. To treat a person that has done so much with little pay like nothing is asinine. So many lives have been saved through Sports. Many unknown conversations have gone on to help the players handle life. To take Coach Powell away is disrespectful to the team to what his father and family have done for Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Playing a sport is not always about winning or losing. A coach teaches players how to look wthin theirselves for victory and striving for perfection in all they due; Coach Powell has done so much more than this. Please reinstate his position back!

Well knowledgeable, trustworthy and faithful young coach very good for the program.school and community man of great integrity excellent example for the kids in our troubled communities!
