This petition is missing a demand for the homeless people who frequent the park. They are also due their rights, and protection from the city. Please add this to the petition. Very happy to sign thereafter. I love that park, used to spend so much time there when I was younger.

As ratepayers we are entitled to the use and enjoyment of our public parks. This includes that the relevant authorities fulfil their obligations to keep these parks safe, clean and usable. Open fires, pollution of our rivers and streams and flagrant vagrancy does not evidence the City of Cape Town's commitment to and fulfilment of their obligations to us the ratepayers. Time to step up.

I completely agree with this mandate ...there are even people" farming ' and have seen the Parks officials being threatened to no avail .

This Park can be so beautiful and the rates payers deserve to be able use this area.

I have driven and walked passed on numerous occasions with as many as 5 different fires burning at the same time. I don't feel safe using the park and we are no longer able to use the single track bike trail constructed by the community in their own time and at their own cost due to the people living in the park.

I am a rate payer living in the area and no longer feel safe using the park and cannot go there with my children any more. As rate payers we surely have the right to use the parks in our area without feeling unsafe. The vagrancy issues in Van Riebeeck Park and surrounding areas must be addressed by the City of Cape Town.

a) Ratepayers who contribute to City Council coffers have a legitimate expectation for Council to maintain public spaces under Council's jurisdiction in a reasonable and clean standard. The financial burden of attending to poorer areas is acknowledged, but there must be some budgetary allocation to VRP. b) Debris accumulating in stormwater downstream poses a real threat to Council to maintain stormwater infrastructure in a satisfactory functioning condition. It is in Council's own interests to ensure that plastic and waste originating from informal settlements upstream does not accumulate in stormwater drainage and damage vital City infrastructure.

Simply put the park is no longer being used by residents as it has been taken over by vagrants. It is now unsafe, unhealthy and unpleasant for recreational use.
