We, the undersigned residents of Water’s Edge, are writing to express our deep dissatisfaction with the current state of our community’s landscaping and the disproportionate homeowners association (HOA) dues we are obligated to pay. The pervasive weed infestation, widespread dead grass, and overall neglect of our communal areas are not only diminishing the aesthetic appeal of our neighborhood but also raising concerns about the value we receive for our substantial financial contributions.
Primary Concerns:
• Health and Safety Hazards: Overgrown weeds can harbor pests and contribute to unsafe conditions for residents and their pets. Neglected lawns can also lead to soil erosion and water runoff issues, further exacerbating safety concerns.
• Decline in Aesthetic Appeal: The current state of our lawns, characterized by rampant weed growth and patches of dead grass, presents an unkempt and neglected appearance. This deterioration undermines the beauty of our community and affects residents’ pride in their surroundings.
• Impact on Property Values: Studies have shown that poor landscaping can lead to a decline in property values. Specifically, properties with neglected lawns and inadequate landscaping can experience a decrease in value, making them less attractive to potential buyers.
• Unjustified HOA Dues: Despite paying substantial HOA dues, the lack of proper maintenance and attention to our community’s landscaping needs suggests a misallocation of resources or inadequate management. This discrepancy between our financial contributions and the services rendered is unacceptable.
Requested Actions:
1. Immediate Assessment and Remediation: Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the current landscaping issues and implement prompt measures to remove weeds and revitalize affected grass areas.
2. Engage Professional Landscaping Services: Hire certified professionals experienced in effective landscape management to address the current issues and implement preventive measures.
3. Implement Sustainable Landscaping Practices: Adopt environmentally friendly landscaping practices, such as using native plants and efficient irrigation systems, to enhance the resilience and appearance of our community’s green spaces.
4. Transparent Financial Reporting: Provide a detailed breakdown of HOA dues allocation, specifically highlighting the budget for landscaping and maintenance. This transparency will help residents understand how their contributions are being utilized and ensure accountability.
5. Establish Regular Maintenance Schedules: Develop and maintain a consistent landscaping schedule to prevent future infestations and deterioration, ensuring our community remains safe and visually appealing.
By addressing these concerns promptly, we can enhance the safety, health, aesthetic appeal, and overall quality of life within Water’s Edge. We respectfully urge the Board to take immediate action to resolve these pressing issues and ensure that our HOA dues are utilized effectively for the betterment of our community.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to your prompt response and are willing to collaborate to ensure the well-being and beauty of our neighborhood.
Sincerely,
Joseph Fernandez

I have been hearing from so many of you who feel the same frustration about the state of our grounds. It is honestly overwhelming to see how many neighbors feel like they are being ignored. Please know that I am trying my best to figure out our next steps to get some accountability.

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the momentum behind this and I never imagined so many neighbors felt the same way. This progress belongs entirely to the people who spoke up when it felt like our concerns were invisible. Thank you for stepping up to remind everyone that our neighborhood deserves better.

My dog eats these on every walk and if we don’t pick them off one by one, he throws up and/or coughs uncomfortably.
Absolutely support this, I was planning to bring it up at the annual meeting. We do not have grass, we have weeds. It's out of control!
I agree with this petition.
A daunting challenge, I’m sure, but still badly needed!
not good
We all should recognize and appreciate the time and efforts invested by residents who volunteer to serve our community on the board or various committees. However I do agree with Joe that there is value today in elevating this issue to a community-wide discussion. Thanks to Joe for initiating this action.
Thank you- agree 100%.
