Patients are being turned away from pharmacies because they do not have enough schedule II drugs to fill prescriptions for established or new patients. There is a shortage of schedule II drugs sufficient to meet the needs of patients. Specifically, there is a shortage of Schedule II drugs such as Oxycodone and Morphine.
Title 21 of the United States Code, Controlled Substance Act states in case of shortages the Attorney General shall in 30 days from notification of such shortage complete review of the request and order increase production quotas.
We, the undersigned, petition manufacturers, government officials, Attorney General Eric Holder to resolve the shortage of Schedule II drugs such as Oxycodone and Morphine by increasing the set quota so that patients may be compliant with medical plans made between patients and their Medical Doctors.
This shortage is detrimental to patient care and is severe in Hawaii and other states. This shortage affects hospice patients, veterns, the elderly, surgical patients, and patients working through pain management and rehabilitation processes.
