Review and Revise the AISD Dress Code

Shorts/dresses/skirts/skorts should be held to the finger tip length - when hands are held at your sides, your bottom attire should not be shorter than that. I’m personally a huge fan of uniforms!

I am an AISD parent of a current 7th grader, and a former high school student (who graduated Salutatorian from McCallum, and was a National Merit Finalist.) I agree that our current dress code uses language and restrictions that suggest the female body is a distraction, which is ridiculous. Certainly AISD can do better.

I am a parent of a former AISD student and now live out of district! I’d love to see the dress code change to be less gendered and more equitable.

I'd like my sky high property taxes to be used for STEM learning, not enforcing some BS dress code.

Excited to see this petition. The current dress code is a joke and needs to be changed to reflect the current times.

I’d support school uniforms as an alternative, especially in middle and high school.

It is important we update the dress code for AISD.

My daughter has long arms she was dress coded because her shorts hit mid thigh. They covered her bottom but were not finger tip length.

Please consider the Oregon NOW dress code model as a replacement for current dress code policy which unfairly penalizes girls and students of color.

So many important points here. The toughest for my 13 year old daughter has been the rule for “distracting” shorts. The policy is full of subjective terms and definitely should be revisited.

Please revise this outdated, outmoded code and language that so clearly targets girls and students of color. Time to join the 21st century and respect ALL our students equally.

Please form a committee to address and reexamen the current AISD dress code. The wording singles out female, non-gender conforming, and students of color and does not reflect the equity of all the students that our district stand for. Thank you an AISD parent.
