Subject: Urgent Request for Review and Reform of Module FAC2602 – "Selected Accounting Standards and Simple Group Structures"

We, the undersigned students and stakeholders of UNISA, respectfully submit this petition to express our serious concerns regarding the setup, administration, and evaluation practices of the FAC2602 module.

We believe that the integrity of the academic process is being compromised due to the following key issues:

Assessment Content Misalignment
Recent assessments (e.g., Assessments 3 & 4) do not align adequately with the study guide and prescribed textbook content, causing confusion and unfair disadvantage to students.

Lack of Transparency in Marking and Feedback
Marked assignments often lack detailed feedback, making it difficult for students to understand their mistakes and improve. Markings take place only at the end of the semester. Why do we get our other marks on time.

Lack of Transparency in Marking and Feedback
Marked assignments often lack detailed feedback, making it difficult for students to understand their mistakes and improve. We never have any discussions and regular sessions with lecturers. It is that little.

How come most of our students fail this specific module. More then 50% is repeating this module.

We Request the Following:

  1. An independent academic review of the FAC2602 module’s assessment design and content alignment.
  2. Improved transparency and feedback in assessment marking.
  3. Enhanced communication protocols and accountability for module lecturers.
  4. Assurance of technical support and reliability of UNISA platforms during assessments.
  5. A revised assessment format that reflects fair time allocation and accessible structure.
