This is a parent initiative.
The parents had to stand in a line for 3 days in the hope of getting a place for their child. Single parents with limited support systems found it difficult to stand in the queue.
Parents found it difficult to understand that they had to wait in a queue for such a long time. Especially those parents that already had children in the grade R classes.
Grade R children did not have automatic admission into Grade 1. Things would have to change for this process to be made easier.
We, the undersigned, request the Gauteng Department of Education to:
- institute automatic admissions for Grade R learners into Grade 1 at Park Primary School;
- provide an online mechanism for admissions in time for the 2017 admissions.
