I am so sorry that happened to you! It should never have happened and I hope the person who did it is rotting in a prison. I will ask though that given what you have been through, if you were in a restroom and a person who is dressed just like a man and looks exactly like a man comes into the restroom where you are because she is transgendered, wouldn't you be frightened by that? Maybe you would try to be a good citizen and report it to the police. Then what? No one yet has produced any evidence that a person wearing a costume of the opposite sex has ever committed a sexual assault in a public restroom.

So what you are advocating here is that a person with lady parts who is dressed exactly like a man, and looks exactly like a man must use the women's bathroom. How is that not more confusing and frightening for the women in there? And for a person with a penis, but is dressed exactly like a woman and looks exactly like a woman must use the men's room. How is that not confusing for the men in the restroom and frightening for the she-man? Does anyone have any evidence that there has ever been a crime committed in a restroom by a transgendered person? No. I am certain every last one of you have at some time been in a bathroom with a transgendered person and didn't know it and weren't bothered in the least. If a horrible person wants to commit a crime in a restroom, repealing this rule will not prevent it. Who will serve as the penis police to make sure the right parts go to their proper restroom - especially when you cannot tell by looking on the outside of the clothes what is going on underneath of them? Also, enforcing such a rule means that single moms can no longer take their young sons into the ladies room and will be forced to send them unaccompanied into men's rooms. I for one, would break the law then really put my child into a potentially dangerous situation. Think about it. It is simpler to leave the rule as it is and start thinking about building gender neutral facilities in public places. Repealing this rule does not make one person any safer at all and will only create impossible bureaucracy, unnecessary fear and more confusion.

Not really as simple as that. Lady parts on a person who is dressed exactly like a man, who looks exactly like a man going into a woman's restroom. How isn't that confusing or scary? Vice versa, man parts on a man who is dressed exactly like a woman, and who looks exactly like a woman going into a men's room. How is that not confusing or scary for that man?

Gender is fairly cut and dry. Your born more than likely male or female. I understand the plight of a human born with both genitalia. Thats not the case with a majority of trans-genders. You can can pick who you are. But we are what we were born to be.
