My husband and I are both working full time. I leave the house every day at 6:30am and am not able to pickup my two children from aftercare until after 5pm. My husband is frequently away or usually not home until 8pm. I would like to see things left as they are regarding the schedule times. I frequently ask my Ridgefield HS sitter to help get the kids from the bus or they have to go to aftercare. I wouldn’t want them to be at aftercare any longer. It’s a long enough day for them as it is!
In addition..the cost will increase for the amount of aftercare. I currently pay about $1400 a month plus $2000 a year for PreK. It would be a devistating change for us! Please do not change the times!

It is too expensive to pamper a handful of children who cannot get up in the morning. Why is this needed? I have read the studies - and I say NO!!!

We currently have a Freshman and a Junior in RHS, as well as a 6th grader at SRMS. The proposed start time is only going to push bed time to a later hour, which will not improve the quality of sleep that a teenager needs. Furthermore, it is going to affect family time, and be a challenge for sports and older kids who hold a job after school hours. Not to mention how long of a day that will be for the youngsters, and how after school childcare is not going to work for every single working parent out there. As it is now, HS students can manage to get a decent night’s sleep, they can participate in sports and extra curricular activities while still having enough time for homework and family time. And, it makes it possible for a student to hold a job. So, why changing something that is actually working for so many?
